Routing and Remote Access Services in Windows Server 2008 provide remote access to clients through dial-up services and virtual private network (VPN) configuration. Remote and mobile users are continuing to increase in numbers with the wide availability of high-speed and wireless Internet access. This course discusses how Windows Server 2008 provides those clients with VPN access, offering support for security mechanisms including a range of tunneling techniques, network and wireless authentication protocols, and access control using the Network Policy Server (NPS). It also reviews the continued support for the Internet Connection Sharing feature and highlights the Connection Manager tools provided to help set up and manage remote connections. Passing this exam completes the requirements for the MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring certification, and counts as credit towards the following certifications: Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Administrator, and the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Server Administrator, since both MCITPs are certifications that require more than one exam.
