Cisco DESGN 2.1: Selecting Routing Protocols
by Skillsoft

When sites are interconnected, there must be a way to get information to the correct site. Routing is the process by which information gets from one location to another, and it is important to understand how the various routing protocols work for proper selection of a routing protocol. This course discusses the factors that help determine which routing protocol to use in an enterprise network, using IP version 4 (IPv4) or IP version 6 (IPv6). The course begins with a review of basic routing protocol concepts and fundamentals. It continues to discuss characteristics of enterprise routing protocols. The selection and implementation of a routing protocol is based on specific needs and topologies. This course also describes scenarios where routing protocols are deployed based on different needs. The network characteristics and customer requirements, as well as the multiprotocol, multivendor environment, are considered. The course concludes with a discussion on route redistribution, summarization, and filtering.
