Cisco DESGN 2.1: Integrating Voice and Video Architectures
by Skillsoft

Many enterprises are integrating their voice and data networks into a single unified communications network. Packet telephony introduces a new set of terms and standards and each technology has a specific role to play in the network. Unified communications networks can run the same applications as telephony networks but in a more cost-effective and scalable manner. To design a network, you need to consider both voice and data traffic. By understanding integrated unified architecture concepts, components, mechanisms, and issues, you will be better prepared to design an integrated voice-video-data network. This course discusses the main drivers of the new unified communications network as well as the components that are required to successfully deploy voice and video on an existing data network. An overview of standard voice components that are common to all packet networks and of VOIP components that are found in enterprise packet networks is provided. This course reviews traditional voice architectures and features and explains the reasons for migrating from a traditional architecture to integrated architectures.
